McFarlane Halo 5 Guardians Figures Up for Order!

As many of you have written in and noticed (and I’ve been a bit too busy to talk about here), some of the McFarlane Toys Halo 5: Guardians figures that were scheduled to be released in October have started to appear in some stores. Kelly and the Athlon Spartan have been especially difficult to find, but things just got a whole lot easier: the McFarlane Halo 5 figures are now available online with free shipping!

McFarlane Toys Halo 5 Guardians Series 1 Figures Packaged

I spent over a week going from Target store to Target store trying to track down the Kelly and Spartan Athlon figures from McFarlane Halo 5 Guardians Series 1 before I came across a full case and discovered–to my horror–that the reason I was having such a tough time is that neither figure is in the cases going to Target stores. Whoops.

And so, I’ve been waiting patiently (or is it impatiently?) for my chance to complete my non-exclusive Halo 5 figures lineup. That opportunity finally came today, when I checked Amazon and discovered that they too have now received their Halo 5 action figures early, and are offering up all of Series 1 with free shipping!

McFarlane Halo 5 Spartan Kelly Figure PackagedThis is the first series of McFarlane Toys figures to ever feature two different women in the same set, which is a pretty big deal. That said, Spartan Tanaka doesn’t exactly look much like a woman, but she’s proven to be a tough figure to locate at retail nonetheless. Meanwhile, I’ve yet to see a Kelly in-person in my many, many travels, so I was thrilled to see her being offered up on Amazon today. The hunt is over! (At least, for me it is.)

There are still two main character Spartans that will need to be released as McFarlane action figures (hopefully): Olympia Vale of Fireteam Osiris and Spartan Linda of Blue Team. Is it possible that we’ll see two women in one series of Halo action figures again for Halo 5: Guardians Series 2? I sure hope so!

Halo 5 Athlon Spartan Action Figure

Kelly and the Athlon Spartan are still marked at the full MSRP of $15.99 (yes, that is the suggested retail price that McFarlane Toys set for this series), but the Master  Chief, Fred, Spartan Locke and Spartan Tanaka figures are all discounted to $12.99.

While I doubt that Agent Locke and the Master Chief will be at all difficult to find as more cases arrive in stores, I’ve only seen the one-per-case Fred and Tanaka figures twice in all my travels, so they may be worth picking up online if you haven’t spotted them yet–especially at their current discounted price.

Series 1 Halo 5 McFarlane Action FiguresThe Series 1 Halo 5 McFarlane Toys figures are now available for order online, and are eligible for free 2-day shipping for Amazon Prime members. I just ordered my Kelly and Athlon Spartan action figures today, and will try to get a review of the duo up in early September. (I’m really excited about adding Kelly to my Spartan Blue Team!)

Who out there has spotted the Halo 5 Wave 1 figures in their own local stores yet, and have you seen the hardest to find figures such as Athlon and Kelly? What do you think of the new line as a whole, Halo fans?

McFarlane Halo 5 Guardians Figures Up for Order! — 11 Comments

  1. Don’t forget another main character that needs a release. Buck is one of those main character Spartans now!

  2. THANK YOU for the update and thank you Mcfarlane for continuing to make more. I just picked up Fred from Target, if you only see the “cloaked” master chiefs, go find an employee at Target, ask them kindly to check for more Halo figures in the warehouse, they will ask you which ones you want and you can tell them. You’re right, they don’t have Kelly for some reason.

I also was going to buy MC but I held off because it looks like another MC4 figure but with less paint… and the paint on the Assault rifle was a horrendous blob on the one I saw. It has green desert camo on the AR.

On a side note, the Fred figure is sitting in my car and I’ll open it later. It looks HUGE, nice and beefy which is awesome. The MC figure also had a huge looking chest plate. ( I have 3 MC’s) and this one looks odly bigger… maybe they have a gimmick like it comes off? Waiting on your review. The $12 price tag was NICE 🙂

Reason you might not see it on a Target peg yet is that they said they have to sell out all the Cloacked MC’s before they can put new figures on the shelf, so until those last stragglers are gone… just ask nicely

    • Thanks to this post on HaloToyNews.com I was able to jump ahead on my search and order Kelly on Amazon, with 2 day shipping she arrived. I also bought Fred at Target and Locke and Tanaka at ToysRUs. I must say they all look ridiculously impressive, the paint on these are possibly the best we’ve gotten from McFarlane to date.

I do have one gripe, and that’s accuracy in proportions! Sadly, I think Kelly’s too tall… I don’t mean to put anyone off from buying her- if you are a Halo fan like me, you’ve been waiting for a Kelly figure since middl school… 10+ years!

      • What about the Kelly figure with Chief and Fred in “The Package” 3 pack brought out in 2013?
I know it’s based off an animation but it still counts.

        • I never liked that animation so I kind of neglected those in my Halo lore… haha. It was just way too “anime” and God knows I love anime… but not in my Halo. High heels on Kelly? a Dr. Halsey who looks like she could be Chief’s girlfriend? The action was awesome though and I think Kelly and Fred’s roles were perfect. Besides that though… xD I needed another figure. A “realistic” one in the Gen 2 style. My only gripe is how weird and huge Kelly’s head is! It’s like a whale… EVA…

  3. Getting Linda and Vale in series 2 (praying there will be more series) would be fantastic. With the release of the opening cinematic to Halo 5 Guardians, we now know that Buck is in Lockes’ team so I hope Linda, Vale and Buck make up the first 3 of 6 figures in series 2 for the main line so we can complete both Blue and Osiris teams.
I’d love to see the Arbiter, Storm Elite and Promethean Soldier take the last 3 slots to get characters other than Spartans in there. It’ll add variety to the line and draw in more Covenant/Promethean orientated fans like me.

I was only interested in Locke, MC and the Athlon at first but after that cinematic I bought the other 3 in the hopes of completing the teams in future . . . . and mainly because Buck is looking badass 😀
My only other hope for this line is the one I commented for the H4 line which is that for us collectors to finally get a new Deluxe Hunter.

Fingers are crossed on this line being successful but it seems Todd would rather spend his time developing that new Walking Dead construction line than paying more attention to the already existing Halo one which, after H4, is quite frankly in poor shape.

    • Can’t agree with you more brotha, gotta complete the teams now while we can! Before prices/availability goes up. It’s hard enough as it is. You know, if someone from Mcfarlane was reading these pages… I sure hope they hear ya out and make a new Hunter. I would buy two because I missed out on the first release… sigh. Mcfarlane, you’ve done a great job! Please keep the goodies rolling!

  4. Beware of Amazon’s shipping. I, too, bought Kelly and the Athlon figure there with Prime 2-day shipping, and the idiots decided to cram both into a box way to small to even fit one. Needless to say, both figures had very badly damaged packages. I was pretty upset, but I just took them out of the package. I bought them again through BigBadToyStore instead. Waiting on them to arrive so hopefully they’re in better condition.

  5. Great reviews! Im really enjoying this series just lack the walgreens and GS exclusive to complete the series. Also BBTS just revealed series 2 of 4 figures and guess what……There all boring spartans!!!! And only one is from the campaign. I mean we get it Mcfarlane, its cheap to make spartans but come on, give us some enemies!

  6. I just found the bright green spartan technician exclusive at my local toys r us. $12.99. Still looking for the other 3 exclusives.
