Halo Mega Bloks 2016 Brute Chopper Raid Set w/ KAT!

In what has to be one of the more bizarre chain of events in Mega Bloks Halo history, Mattel showed off virtually nothing new at New York Toy Fair 2016 last month–and then proceeded to release sets one month later which we have never seen before. No, really. Seriously! I’m pretty astonished about this, honestly, but whatever. What is, is–so let’s take a look at the Spring 2016 Halo Mega Bloks Brute Chopper Raid set… with the first-ever official Mega Bloks Kat figure!

Halo Mega Bloks 2016 Brute Chopper Raid Set with Spartan Kat

Although Halo Wars 2 is the big deal in Halo video games this year, Mattel is running the full spectrum with the Spring/Summer 2016 Halo Mega Bloks range, with toys coming from Halo Wars, Halo Wars 2, Halo Reach and more. Of course, there’s basically no vehicles left to mine from Halo: Reach, but MEGA Brands has found a way to make some of the older vehicles interesting again.

Case in point? The Mega Bloks Halo Brute Chopper Raid set, which was unexpectedly revealed–by showing up for sale in the United States–this week. Basically, MEGA Brands is selling us the most expensive Brute Chopper set ever by giving us the largest and most detailed Brute Chopper, along with a Brute Captain figure and the ever-popular Bubble Shield accessory. But wait–that’s not all!

Mega Bloks Spartan Kat Figure Close-UpOf course, the big selling-point of this set is the Spartan Kat figure, which will finally complete the official Noble Team of Spartans from Halo: Reach. Kat will come with her appropriate M6G pistol as shown on the box and specifically titled in the text on the box back. Does Kat have her cybernetic arm…? Well, that’s a little tough to tell from these photos, even when they’ve been magnified, but I believe that she does.

Mega Brands knows that we’ve been waiting a long time for Kat, so I imagine that they know to make her perfect for us. Why Mattel chose not to showcase one of the most highly-anticipated Halo figures remaining in the line at the 2016 Toy Fair last month is beyond me, but clearly Mattel works in mysterious ways (or just seriously does not understand their audience for these toys–one or the other).

Mega Bloks Halo Brute Chopper Raid 31838 Set Box Back KatThe Brute Chopper Raid 31838 set contains 221 pieces and should retail for around $24.99 when it hits retail stores this spring. I couldn’t help myself and gluttonously paid the scalper price of $29.99 for this set over at Toy Wiz (ToyWiz.com), but I wouldn’t recommend doing the same yourselves unless you’re as desperate for new Halo toys as I am (which you very well may be at this point, honestly).

What do you think of this year’s upgraded Brute Chopper Mega Bloks set, Halo collectors? Will you be buying this set for the Brute Captain figure, the first Spartan Kat Mega Bloks figure, the vehicle itself… or none of the above?

  1. I´ll buy it just for Kat honestly. The chopper is cool but meh. The bubble shield is a nice adition to my collection tough

  2. We have every noble team member now when this set releases. What surprises me is the robot arm for Kat. We didn’t have it in halo 5 but instead we have it in mega Bloks.
