Old Halo Mega Bloks 2013 Sets Now in New Fall 2013 Packaging!

Are you the type of Halo collector who has to have everything (and I do mean everything)? Then MEGA Brands may have just the thing for you, Halo Mega Bloks completist! Coming to a store near you this month–some old Halo Mega Bloks sets are back–in all new boxes…

Cauldron Clash 97118 in Fall 2013 Halo Mega Bloks Packaging

When I walked into my local Target earlier this week, I was greeted by the welcome sight of tons of bright white Mega Bloks Halo set boxes lining the aisle! At first I thought that my local store had finally stocked all of the latest Halo Mega Bloks Fall 2013 sets, but upon greater inspection, that wasn’t precisely what was in all the brilliant white new boxes.

Indeed, the boxes were sporting the new redesigned Summer 2013 Halo Mega Bloks sets packaging, but the sets themselves were actually on the older side: the Halo Mega Bloks Cauldron Clash and Covenant Spectre sets. Both of these sets were previously released as part of the early 2013 Halo Mega Bloks winter wave, with boxes in the darker grey style of packaging. So far I’ve only seen these two older sets show up in the new packaging, but I’d be astonished if the UNSC Mantis Halo Mega Bloks sets isn’t released in this style packaging as well (has anyone seen it yet in the new packaging?).

Covenant Spectre Ambush 97110 in Fall 2013 Halo Mega Bloks PackagingI have to admit–the new style of packaging is very appealing, and it was nice to see sets that my Target has literally never stocked before finally show up on the shelves. But personally, I’m not a packaging collector at all (truth be told, I throw away all the boxes after I’ve built a set–I just don’t have space for them), though I know that many collectors feel the desire to have even packaging variants like this to keep their collections feeling complete.

What say you, Halo fandom? Are you interested in picking up older sets in the bright Halo Mega Bloks Fall 2013 packaging, or do you not care what the box for a set looks like–it’s what’s inside that counts? Leave a reply and let other collectors know where your interests lie!

Old Halo Mega Bloks 2013 Sets Now in New Fall 2013 Packaging! — 11 Comments

  1. Me third neither. However, when I was in Target today, I saw the new Hornet with Vampire, new Pelican and picked up the Glow In The Dark Target exclusive set. (going to have to wait for sale on the other two.) Now THOSE are NICE!!

  2. finally, maybe i’ll get a chance to pick up a cauldron clash as my local walmart never stocked that set either.

  3. I don’t care for the boxes either but it’s nice to finally have new sets at local stores last night I got the hornet vs vampire set

  4. I got so tired of waiting for the new line i picked up a second spectre in the new packaging just for the hell of it.

  5. The only one i havent seen yet was the gauss hog. the blue hot and banshee are out, as are the desert hog, the pelican, the hornet and the various little set. though i had to go to a combination of targets and toys r us to pick them up.

  6. Honestly I don’t like the lights and sounds to me their very annoying but I love the sets themselves so with me I took the batteries out of the hornet and that’s what I will do to any other sets I get Now about the boxes I think it was a smart move Because if you didn’t get the Spector or cauldron clash ( maybe the Mantis) now you the chance to buy it at retail rather than searching for the set online and probably paying more than the set’s retail price

    • I just wish the cockpits werent yellow on everything. i used smoke gray spraypaint on them and they turned a nice clear grey/black.
