It’s been a pretty quiet winter for Halo Mega Bloks collectors, but as stores reset their aisles for the new year, several of the Halo Mega Bloks 2015 sets are making their way out into online stores and onto physical store shelves in respectable quantities. And of the sets finally making their presence known in force, none is more high-profile than the Halo Mega Bloks Covenant Drone Outbreak set, which gives us our first Halo Mega Bloks Drone figures… and our first official Jorge figure!

2015 has arrived, and with it has arrived a whole new wave of Halo Mega Bloks sets. The headliner of this series is, no-questions-asked, the Halo Mega Bloks Covenant Drone Outbreak set.

While the main portion of the set is a flatbed UNSC Supply Truck–which is cool enough, I suppose–the thing that’s going to really sell this set to collectors is the four new figures included. With the brand-new Covenant Drone Mega Bloks figures included in this set, we’ll now have Halo Mega Bloks figures of every species in the Covenant except for the Huragok Engineers.

Could we see the first Halo Mega Bloks Engineers at New York Toy Fair 2015 next month…? I hope so!

In addition, the set includes two new Spartans: a generic blue Spartan JFO figure… and the first release of the unique Noble Squad Spartan, Jorge! Well… the first official release, anyway.

I mean, let’s be real here: the figure included with the Halo Mega Bloks UNSC Spade set a few years back was Jorge. MEGA Brands might not have been able to call that Spartan figure Jorge back then due to licensing issues, but it was very clearly meant to be him.

Even so, this Jorge figure features superior articulation and interchangeable armor functions that the previous Halo Mega Bloks Not-Jorge figure did not (plus a Grenadier backpack), making him a must-have for Halo Reach fans like myself.

The set also includes five weapons for the figures to hold: two Plasma Pistols (one for each of the Covenant Drone figures), as well as a Target Locator, a Tactical Shotgun and an M247H Machine Gun (with Tripod!). The Machine Gun was a must-have for a Jorge figure, and I’m always psyched to get another Target Locator–thanks, MEGA Brands!

The Mega Bloks Halo Covenant Drone Outbreak set is now available for sale online, as well as having appeared at many Target and Toys R Us stores. This set is a big deal because of the included Jorge and army-builder Drone figures, so it may be hard to find in some areas for a while yet.
