Halo Mega Bloks UNSC Firebase Released & Up for Order!

While it’s very possible (and perhaps even likely) that the glory days of Halo Mega Bloks toys are behind us, there’s at least one holdover set left that fans have been awaiting since the line’s beginning. And while it’s changed immensely from its original Halo Wars form, the Halo Mega Bloks UNSC Firebase set is finally up for order–including exclusive figures like Spartan Kelly!

Halo Mega Bloks UNSC Firebase Set Box

After the Covenant Scarab Mega Bloks set was released in 2014, there was really no question left as to what the single most fan-demanded remaining Halo Mega Bloks set was: the UNSC Firebase that was shown in early prototype form way back in the Halo Wars days.

Now, that set was gigantic and would have costed hundreds of dollars to produce these days, so it was a bit more ambitious than what MEGA Brands seemingly wanted to manufacture for us.

But while it’s not the gargantuan playset that we originally saw, at least a UNSC Command Center is finally appearing in Mega Bloks form, right?

Halo Mega Bloks Firebase Set Summer 2015The main feature of the Fire Base is a pair of weapons turrets which can be rotated a complete 360 degrees. The set also includes a bridge, interior armory and control center, making it one of the decked-out UNSC playset environments that we’ve ever gotten in the Halo Mega Bloks lineup.

Back of Mega Bloks Halo Firebase Set BoxThe Mega Bloks Halo UNSC Firebase includes five Halo figures:

  • Covenant Hunter
  • Drone Minor (Green)
  • Drone Major (Red) — Exclusive
  • Spartan Kelly — Exclusive
  • UNSC Marine

Figures Included with Halo Mega Bloks Firebase Spartan KellyI really, truly never thought that I would live to see the day that we’d get an official Spartan Kelly Mega Bloks figure, so I am overjoyed both with finally getting a UNSC Firebase Mega Bloks set and also with Kelly being included in it. Way to go, MEGA Brands!

Halo Mega Bloks UNSC Firebase Figures Kelly Drones Hunter MarineIt seems sort of bizarre to only get one Hunter with this set, but I think it’s pretty obvious that MEGA intends for serious collectors to buy multiple of this set to combine into a bigger (and better!) UNSC Firebase conglomerate (hence the blurb on the back about the Firebase featuring a “Modular Build System” to customize your Firebase).

Weapons Included with Mega Bloks Halo Firebase Set

Set CNG69 also includes a pretty decent arsenal of weapons, although none of the seven guns included are particularly rare:

  • SAW
  • SMG
  • Assault Rifle
  • Shotgun
  • Rocket Launcher
  • Covenant Plasma Pistols (2)

The Firebase set is priced at $64.99 for 637 pieces, which puts it almost exactly at my ideal price-point of 10 cents per piece.

UNSC Firebase Mega Bloks Halo Summer 2015 Set BoxThe Halo Mega Bloks Firebase set is now available for order online and also beginning to appear in some stores. As there’s no tax on Amazon purchases in my state, I saved about $5 ordering the set online with free shipping. I haven’t reviewed a Halo construction set in a while, but I’m definitely looking forward to taking an in-depth look at this one!

Now that, at long last, a UNSC Firebase Halo Mega Bloks set is available, will you be buying one (or more!) of these sets to expand your dioramas, Halo collectors? And if not–why not?

  1. just wondering why do you think the mega bloks glory days might be behind us. it seems as popular as ever and mega bloks in general is getting far more popular

    • Yeah I wish to know why people have the opinion that the glory days are over. The quality has gotten a lot better, we don’t have stickers anymore, and we are getting a lot of named characters in sets. Sometimes small sets which is fantastic, such as Jul ‘Mdama.
