Halo Mega Bloks Anniversary Battleground 97519 Released!

Having been jacked up by the excitement and news coming out of San Diego Comic Con 2014 for the better part of a week, I went out to Toys R Us yesterday more out of restlessness than any expectation of finding anything new on the shelves. So imagine my surprise when I waltzed into Toys R Us and discovered not only many of the Halo Mega Bloks Summer 2014 sets (including the Alpha Series), but also the exclusive Halo Mega Bloks Anniversary Battleground 97519 set with Tartarus…

Halo Mega Bloks Anniversary Edition Battleground Set Released with TartarusUp until this week, I literally hadn’t seen a single Summer 2014 Halo Mega Bloks set at any retail store. I bought my UNSC Broadsword set online, and got my Flame Warthog set directly from MEGA Brands. But lo and behold, cancel any overpriced online orders you may have placed, because the Halo Mega Bloks summer sets really are starting to appear in retail stores!

Halo Mega Bloks UNSC Wombat Set Released I picked up the whole Halo Mega Bloks Alpha Series (minus any Gummy Bear figures) using the Halo Mega Bloks Alpha Series Codes List, and got my first chance to see the new UNSC Elephant ($99.99) and UNSC Wombat ($9.99) sets in person (reviews of both coming in August 2014).

The UNSC Mongoose with Emile was sadly still absent, as were several other new sets, but at least we know that the set are definitely starting to arrive in stores now.

Halo Mega Bloks Summer 2014 Sets ReleasedBut my favorite discovery at the store was the freshly-announced Halo 2 Anniversary Battleground Mega Bloks set! Considering this set was only announced earlier this month, I was legit shocked it was already out.

Toys R Us Exclusive Halo Mega Bloks Battleground Set 97519The headliner for 97519 Halo Mega Bloks Battleground set is Tartarus, the white Brute boss from Halo 2. In addition, you get two Brute figures and two UNSC Marines, all for $14.99. Getting one unique, named character and four army-builders for 15 bucks is quite a deal, so I snapped this set up right away.

Now that you know it’s out there, will you be heading to your local Toys R Us to pick up the Anniversary Halo Mega Bloks Battleground set, Halo collectors? Or are Tartarus and his four friends not enough of an incentive for you to drop 15 bucks on this exclusive release?

Halo Mega Bloks Anniversary Battleground 97519 Released! — 21 Comments

  1. I just got back from toys r us and I got the same set πŸ™‚ I also got 3 blind packs and using hts codes u gave me I was able 2 get a brute major, brute stalker, and a clear and purple odst which also came with a storm grunt in the same pack! Thx so much 4 those codes. I can’t wait 4 the hierarchs shadow, flood invasion, and Emile’s mongoose 2 come out! Speaking of which do u hav any idea when they might come out? Thx again

    • The Shadow is coming in August according to MB, The Flood Invasion is pretty cloudy and no one has a set in stone release date, And Apparently The Mongoose and been seen in some American stores.

  2. I’m curious as to why the new sets are always showing up in the IS first, since Mega is a Canadian company.

    • As a Calgarian I too wonder this. Seems to take forever to get stock. Stores still don’t have Call of Duty Coastal Intercept and Platoon Patrol, barely seen Desert Outpost; and on the Halo side its the same with the Series 8, 9, and Alpha, and now all the Summer sets. Also took until late Feb to see the Ghosts and Armor Bays fully stocked.

Just weird. But the USA is a much bigger market.

      • Let’s just see it on the bright side and say that this is letting us more time to save money for these sets, lol.

  3. Almost all the sets except for the shadow and fire team sets are on targets online store, although many are already sold out. I actually saw some target exclusive sets with a zombie themed line. I picked up the largest one, which had 3+ figures, a cyclops, a container of armour, and a same base, and to me it looked pretty great. Hasn’t shipped yet so I won’t know until then. I found Emile’s mongoose on the kmart online stores and it was still in stock, which really surprised me on both of those.

  4. A lot of targets are starting to stock the exclusive target zombie / last man standing sets.

The new Halo reach figures are really nice and all the sudden my old reach figures look….meh…. time to unload on Evil bay? -_-

  5. The flood invasion set just got added 2 wall arts website, they don’t have any in stock yet tho

  6. What states are you guys in? I’m in Minnesota and have found the battle pack with Sarah Palmer and the Unsc broadsword and that’s it.

  7. And I ordered and Emile set and zombie pack set that haven’t come yet. Also I ordered the new elaphat set awhile back and the new Carter and Jun figures do not disappoint.

  8. I’ve checked a few of my local stores, but all I can find is the NMPD cruiser. Wish I could’ve been as lucky as you guys.

  9. Just bought the flood invasion set of target.com, should come around Tuesday πŸ™‚

  10. I did some hunting in Calgary today and at one TRU (Macleod Trail) found almost every set, they were missing the Elephant, NMPD Cyclops, the Weapons Packs, 4-figure packs, Wombat, and Mongoose (luckily I got the last two from RTX).

    Also found no exclusives.

    Was still able to get:
    Broadsword
    Flame Hog
    NMPD Hornet
    NMPD Cruiser
    Venom Troop Pack
    Crimson Troop Pack
    Flood Invasion

All the other stores looked like they had made room for the new stuff, just needed to put it out on shelves.
