Halo Mega Bloks 2014 Rapid Attack Covenant Ghost Review 97213

The Covenant Ghost is the most ubiquitous and frequently-encountered Covenant vehicle in the Halo video games. Even so, MEGA Brands has never released an “ultimate”, perfect version of the Halo Mega Bloks Covenant Ghost–at least, not until this year! Arriving in stores this winter, it’s the Halo Mega Bloks Rapid Attack Covenant Ghost 97213. It’s the version of the Mega Bloks Ghost that’s so good, you’ll never need to buy another again…

Halo Mega Bloks 2014 Rapid Attack Covenant Ghost ReviewThe Right:

The main event of this set is, of course, the new 2014 Halo Mega Bloks Rapid Attack Covenant Ghost. MEGA Brands has done several Ghost vehicles before, but this is easily the best and most advanced model that they’ve tackled.

Halo Mega Bloks Covenant Ghost 2014 Version Side View The Type-32 Rapid Attack Ghost Mega Bloks vehicle in this set utilizes the sparkly dark purple plastic for the very first time. This looks quite a bit better than the previously-released Ghosts, which have all been molded in the plain purple plastic prior to this one. As the predominant color of this vehicle is purple, the dark purple sparkly plastic is a major improvement aesthetically.

The 2014 Ghost features twin Plasma Rifles on the front, swiveling “wings” and adjustable footrests. The pack-in Zealot Elite figure fits snugly onto the seat of the cockpit and stays on well with or without his hands on the handlebars of the Ghost.

Halo Mega Bloks 2014 Ghost and Elite Zealot Figure 97213There are no decals or stickers with this set–the design printed on the left side of the Ghost is a printed piece. My disdain for stickers in Mega Bloks sets is fairly well-known, so I’m very pleased to not have to deal with any in this set.

Halo Mega Bloks 97213 Ghost Runs Over Zealot Elite FigureThe Halo Mega Bloks 97213 Rapid Attack Covenant Ghost set includes two mini Halo figures, and both are outstanding.

Halo Mega Bloks Thorne Figure Covert Ops Spartan RecruitFirst up, we have a grey Covert Ops Recruit Spartan that MEGA Brands doesn’t call Thorne (because that’s now MEGA rolls)–but for all intents and purposes, this is Thorne. We absolutely needed a not-Thorne figure to pair with the rest of the Spartan-IV Fireteam Majestic, and now we’ve got him. Thumbs up, MEGA Brands!

Mega Bloks Halo Covert Ops Recruit Spartan & White Elite Zealot Action FiguresThe Covert Ops Spartan Recruit figure is a good match color-wise for the previously released “Fireteam Majestic” figures and comes with a Spartan Laser–not the rarest weapon, but not the most common either.

97213 Halo Mega Bloks Figures Back View Thorne and Elite ZealotThe other figure packed in with the Type-32 RAV Covenant Ghost Mega Bloks vehicle is a white Elite Zealot figure. I was convinced that this figure would be white and not silver when the initial photos showed up, and it turns out I was correct. I’ve grown to really love the pearlescent white Sangheili figures MEGA Brands releases, and this one is no exception.

2014 Halo Mega Bloks White Elite Zealot Figure with Pink Energy SwordThe pearl white Zealot Elite figure includes one weapon: a pink Energy Sword. I know some folks loathe the translucent pink-colored Energy Swords, but I have plenty of blue and purple ones from over the years and welcome the change.

Halo 4 Thorne Figure Steals Covenant Ghost Mega Bloks VehicleThe Wrong:

I’m sure I could find something to gripe about here, but to be totally honest, this set is fine. If I wanted to really nitpick I could say that the set should come with an Assault Rifle (Thorne’s weapon of choice) instead of a Spartan Laser, but the Mega Bloks Spartan Laser is harder to come by and more worthwhile of an inclusion regardless. Even the most casual Halo Mega Bloks collector probably has ample extra Assault Rifles lying around anyway.

97213 Mega Bloks Halo Rapid Attack Covenant Ghost Set“Where Can I Buy It?!”

I got my Mega Bloks Halo Rapid Assault Covenant Ghost set from BA Toys, which is to my knowledge the only store in the United States to carry the new 2014 Mega Bloks Halo Ghost set thus far. I’d imagine other retailers will start to stock this set within a month from now.

Overall: The Mega Bloks Halo Rapid Attack Covenant Ghost 97213 set is quite simply the best iteration ever of the Covenant Ghost Mega Bloks vehicle. Both figures that come with the set are very cool and highly desirable, and the Ghost itself is the best-looking visually and the best-built from a technical standpoint of any Mega Bloks Halo Ghost ever. With a low price and high quality, this is a set that every Halo Mega Bloks fan should consider a must-buy for their collection in 2014. I’ll post reviews of the remaining Halo Mega Bloks Winter 2014 sets as I get them, and you can ‘Like’ Halo Toy News on Facebook to have news, photos and reviews sent right to your Facebook Newsfeed!

Halo Mega Bloks 2014 Rapid Attack Covenant Ghost Review 97213 — 10 Comments

  1. 2014, The Year for Halo 4 Megabloks? Maybe even Some Spartan Assault Themed sets here and there.
The Ghost Looks Great, And So do the figures!

This set would’ve been good for a first release of a halo 4 Mold Battle rifle.

  2. I loved this Ghost until I put the figure on it. Head sticks up way too high. From the front, you should barely be able to see the rider. That’s all I see when I look at this set now.

    • This is why it’s easier to make amends with the previous Ghost, just try and reposition the handles so a figure can grasp them without slouching so much. Also, one of the reasons the Zealot sits so high is because of the curved slope piece under him.

  3. i have already asked, dabid, but WERE IS PART 2 OF THE PELICAN AND HORNET REVIEWES???????????????????????????? >:(

    • I heard his Vampire was stolen, and give him some time to review the Pelican, he’s been wrapped up with the 2014 sets.

  4. Got two of these, one of my favourites including the Specter. The three together looks like a formidable force. Too bad those Covies are up against Majestic with a Pelican gunship carrying a warthog. 😀 now if only I can get a Phantom to level the playing field (read: my desk)
