Ever since it was announced, Halo fans have anticipated the very first Loot Halo Legendary Crate subscription box. I signed up well before the first box was scheduled to ship out, and finally, after months of waiting, it has arrived! Does the Spartan-IV Initiation box meet my expectations…? If you don’t want to know what’s in the box, don’t read on, because complete spoilers and unboxing photos follow…Continue Reading →
Mattel’s Halo toy line is off to a hot start with summer, but despite the buzz being generated by first-time characters like Spartan Linda, the Alpha Crawler and the Helioskrill Spartan, the best-selling figure in the brand is still the franchise himself: the Master Chief. The Mattel Halo Master Chief 6″ figure is available online now despite selling out fast in stores thus far–is it worth starting off your Halo Mattel collection with this worldwide icon?Continue Reading →
Of all the figures in the Mattel Halo Series 1 6″ Figures lineup, the blue Air Assault Spartan was the one I had the least interest in. We’ve had plenty of blue Spartans and Air Assault armor figures over the years, right? Thankfully, I had to order the 6″ Spartan Air Assault figure with the rest of the set to get all the parts for the Promethean Alpha Crawler Build-A-Figure.
And I’m glad I did–this turns out to be one of my favorite generic Spartan action figures in years…Continue Reading →
Less than four months after the mega-ton announcement that Mattel had secured the master license for producing Halo action figures, the very first Mattel Halo vehicle set has now arrived–and hey, we even get an all-new Elite action figure packed-in with it! I paid scalper prices and ordered my boxed set last week, so I got it today, but the joke’s on me, as Amazon has the Covenant Ghost w/ Elite Officer for 13 bucks less than I paid last week. Alas. On the bright side, I’ve got the vehicle and figure a day earlier than folks who ordered from Amazon–was it worth it? Read on for my full review…Continue Reading →
I didn’t do much (okay, any) Halo Mega Bloks New York Toy Fair 2016 coverage, because I was hugely disappointed by nothing that hadn’t been previously shown being on display at the actual event. But while the 2016 Toy Fair was a bummer, getting never-before-seen Summer 2016 Halo Mega Bloks sets out of nowhere definitely made up for the disappointment! And the first set I’m going to review corresponds to my inevitable favorite game of 2016: the Mega Bloks Halo Wars 2 UNSC Jackrabbit Blitz set!Continue Reading →
You may notice the frequency of new posts slowing down again here on Halo Toy News for the next week or two. Why? Well, as some of you may have heard, there’s this new video game that just came out–“Halo 5: Guardians”!
But tonight, let me tear myself away from my XBox One, and let’s take a look at another of the McFarlane Halo 5 figures available for order online now, with a review of Fireteam Osiris member Spartan Tanaka!Continue Reading →
It’s been a while since I reviewed a McFarlane Toys Halo 5: Guardians figure, and since I’m all hyped up for the video game to be released in two days, I figured now was a good time to get back in the habit!
I was ultimately let-down by the Agent Locke figure I reviewed in the summer, but that didn’t stop me from buying one of my favorite members of Blue Team! The Halo 5 Spartan Fred figure is available online now for about 12 bucks shipped–is he worth your dollars?Continue Reading →
It’s been literally years since McFarlane Toys released an entire series of new Halo figures containing more than three new figures, but the drought is at an end and the long-awaited Halo 5: Guardians figures have arrived! And what better character to begin the reviews with than the new protagonist of Halo 5–Agent Locke! The new McFarlane Spartan Locke figure is now available online and in some stores–but is he everything I hoped he would be? Well… not exactly…Continue Reading →
It’s been well over a year since I’ve had some new McFarlane Toys Halo figures to review, but the day I wasn’t sure would ever come finally has! The distribution on Halo 4 Series 3 hasn’t been the best, but after ordering Jul ‘Mdama for $14 shipped online, the Didact’s Hand is now in the house! But should this McFarlane Jul ‘Mdama figure be in your house too? Read on for my review…Continue Reading →
Considering all of the top-tier characters and vehicles being released in the Summer/Fall 2014 Halo Mega Bloks sets, it might surprise some people to hear that one of the hottest and hardest-to-find sets at retail is also among the smallest and cheapest. I finally ordered the Halo Mega Bloks UNSC All-Terrain Mongoose 97339 set online after missing it in stores for weeks. Of course, the biggest selling-point of this set isn’t the Mongoose–we’ve got loads of those. No, this set is hot because it comes with the first-ever Mega Bloks Halo Emile figure! Does Emile make it worth buying yet another Mega Bloks Mongoose?Continue Reading →
Halo 3: ODST is easily my favorite of the first-person shooter Halo video games, and the only one that I still play through regularly today. That’s why I’m doubly ashamed that when I walked into the MEGA Brands booth at the New York Toy Fair 2014 and saw the Halo Mega Bloks UNSC Wombat on display, I had no idea what it was. Yes, I know what the Halo Wombat looks like, but I just never imagined MEGA Brands would make a toy of it. Six months later, I ordered the Halo Mega Bloks UNSC Wombat Recon Droid 97451 set online for $10 and now it’s on my shelf. What do I think of the Mega Bloks Halo UNSC Wombat with The Rookie figure? Read on…Continue Reading →
If you had asked me two months ago if MEGA Brands would ever release a Halo Mega Bloks Tartarus figure, I would have likely said “no way”. But that would have been two months ago, and things have changed dramatically … Continue Reading →
The Halo Flame Warthog skin was a DLC bonus only available to Halo fans who pre-ordered the Halo Wars video game way back in 2009. Half a decade later, the Flame Warthog DLC codes are extremely scarce and regularly sell for $30+ on the aftermarket. But as cool as the in-game Halo Wars Flame Warthog is, thanks to MEGA Brands, now you can own something even better for less than the cost of the Flame Warthog DLC code: the Summer/Fall 2014 Halo Mega Bloks UNSC Flame Warthog 97449!Continue Reading →
The Covenant Ghost is the most ubiquitous and frequently-encountered Covenant vehicle in the Halo video games. Even so, MEGA Brands has never released an “ultimate”, perfect version of the Halo Mega Bloks Covenant Ghost–at least, not until this year! Arriving … Continue Reading →
I apologize that I haven’t exactly been posting up a storm this far in 2014, but things have been really slow in the Halo toys collecting world the last few weeks. Things will undeniably pick up at the 2014 Toy … Continue Reading →
It totally blows my mind, but it’s now been almost two years to the day since I posted my review of the original Halo Reach Elite Ranger action figure (which you can find in the Reviews Index archive). That McFarlane … Continue Reading →
I make no secret of the fact that I love Halo Wars. It’s my favorite Halo video game, and most likely my favorite XBox game period. Since MEGA Brands began the Halo theme with the Halo Wars Mega Bloks line … Continue Reading →
Halo 4 fans had to wait a full year for it to happen, but the first Halo 4 Kig-Yar figure finally started to arrive in stores recently! I received my first pair of Halo 4 Storm Jackals in the mail … Continue Reading →
Given that it took me approximately one-gazillion hours to build the brand-new Halo Mega Bloks UNSC Pelican Gunship 97129, I want to be sure to give its review all of the time, detail and attention that is deserves. As such, … Continue Reading →
After visiting two dozen Walgreens stores in a period of eight days (and no, that’s not hyperbole), I finally managed to hunt down the one exclusive figure from McFarlane Toys Halo 4 Series 2: the Green/Steel CIO Spartan action figure… … Continue Reading →
