McFarlane Halo 2014 Figures Officially Announced for Release!

There’s good news and bad news for fans of McFarlane Toys Halo figures. First, the good news: for the first time in well over a year, McFarlane Toys has officially announced new Halo action figures for release, putting the Halo 2014 figures now up for pre-order. The bad news is that, as I feared, the complete McFarlane 2014 Halo assortment consists of just two Master Chief action figures…

McFarlane Halo 2014 Figures

When the “grand” Halo display at the McFarlane Toys 2014 Toy Fair booth consisted of just two new figures, I knew something was up. I desperately hoped that the two new Master Chief figures on display weren’t the only new Halo McFarlane Toys figures for the year, but I couldn’t get anyone at the booth to confirm that.

Toy Fair 2014 McFarlane Halo XBox One Master Chief Figure This week, McFarlane Toys posted official confirmation on their website that the Halo 2 Master Chief and Halo 4 Master Chief figures are in fact the only new Halo figures for 2014.

For Halo collectors, this is a crippling disappointment. While the McFarlane Halo XBox One Master Chief with cloak and cracked visor is at the top of many Halo fans’ wish lists, it’s bittersweet to have that be the only true new Halo figure of 2014 (the Halo 2 Master Chief figure appears to only be a rehash and not a new figure).

Halo 5 Master Chief Figure McFarlane Toys XBox ONEThe McFarlane Toys XBox One Halo 5 Master Chief with Cloak is now available for pre-order with an expected release date of October 2014. As most retail stores have stopped carrying Halo figures and no longer have shelf space for them, it might be prudent to order cloaked Master Chief online if you want him. There’s no telling which retail stores–if any–will stock the Master Chief Halo 4 action figure.

Thoughts on the announcement of the two Halo McFarlane figures for 2014, Halo fans? Will you be picking up either of this year’s new figures, or has McFarlane Toys lost your dollars with their dearth of new products over the past year?

  1. Why not just use the old metal molds and re-make race figs like some of the figure from the “Top 10 Most Expensive McFarlane Halo Figures” list and go out with a sort of love letter to fans? I’m sure they still have the molds knocking around someplace.

  2. So, it’s a wrap. The end. Zilch. This is how McFarlane’s Halo line sputters out.
Well, not a bad run and we got some great Warthogs and figures out of it.
Pity we didn’t get that Falcon. Hopefully someone else will carry the torch.
I probably won’t get this. Appreciate the humour though. A cloaked Master Chief.
    Hahahaha.

  3. I’ll get the cloaked chief. I’ll pass on the H2 Chief, though I’m happy it pretty much confirms H2 Anniversary. I feel like the figures will definitely continue under NECA. McFarlane is probably just ramping down because their licence is about to expire. I’m excited to see what NECA does with the licence.

    • NECA has a different license than McFarlane Toys does. NECA’s license only covers 7″ and up Halo figures. McFarlane’s license is for below 7″.

  4. Are you surprised that there’s only two new figures? It’s obvious that McFarlane has no interest in Halo anymore. Compare the Halo 3 line to the last few lines of Reach and the entire rwo series of Halo 4. They don’t care anymore. Hopefully, Neca will treat us to some kick ass Halo figures. And hopefully not JUST Halo 4 or 5…but earlier games.

    • Can anyone tell me if the Halo Reach spartan armour packs fit on Halo 4 figures? Thanks.

      • They don’t. The Halo 4 figures aren’t even supposed to have customizable armor. If you were to remove the armor (after tearing off paint because of the glue) you’d see that the armor is attached differently than the Halo 3 and Reach figures.

  5. I don’t collect the figures, but I am curious as to why McFarlane would drop such a successful franchise.

    • McFarlane have bigger fish to fry! Who needs halo when they have massive multimedia franchises like…erm…walking dead and…rabbids I guess.

    • McFarlane hasn’t dropped the Halo license. They are the only company holding the 5″/6″ Halo action figure license.

  6. “This is the way the line ends..”. Oh well, the Halo 2 Chief looked cool at Toy Fair, so I’ll likely get him. The Halo franchise is dying for me anyway.

  7. This truly makes me sad… Guess I’m glad I got the figures I have now! The run was worth it, I love the figures I have. Sigh, no in scale Sara Palmer though… I think I’ll have to reserve a Master Chief. Is Entertainment Earth the best place to go to? I’ve never ordered a figure online. Advice please!

    • EE tends to get their McFarlane Halo figures in stock before any other online retailer, so they’re who I use for McFarlane.

  8. Maybe there’s only two Master Chief figures because not much of Halo 5 information has been released? To show figures of characters from the game that weren’t already shown in the teaser trailer would be a big spoiler on Mcfarlane toy’s part, so it’s safe to say that there’s probably more planned, it’s just that the information can’t be released due to Microsoft being so secretive.

  9. I was just on Spawn.com and I saw what accessories these guys come with. The Halo 2 Master Chief comes with two SMGs, a Battle Rifle, and two Brute Plasma Rifles. The Halo 5 Master Chief comes with a Boltshot and Cortana’s memory chip with a chain. Kick-ass!

  10. Even though there’s no info for H5 yet, there are still a lot of characters in Halo Franchise for Mcfarlane Toys to produce. They really shouldn’t just focus on other franchises. Put some effort, get the characters back to the line, make the articulation right and they will be good.

By the way, does Halo Figure Forum still exists? It seems like it’s gone forever. Any chance anyone would know where they are now? Thanks.

  11. ok halo 4 sucks and so does 343 so wonder why mcfarlane is gone who want to sculpt figures of the worst halo game ever i say destiny they should make

  12. I would have much preferred the McFarlane Halo figures to go out with a BANG!!! instead of a whimper…
