McFarlane Halo 4 Series 3 Figures! Jul Mdama Thorne Palmer!

Hell has officially frozen over, Halo collectors. After over a year with zero new figure releases, today McFarlane Toys announced that in February 2015 Halo 4 Series 3 will be released. And not only is the long-demanded series of figures coming–it’s bringing us perhaps the three most fan-demanded characters from the game: Halo 4 Series 3 Jul Mdama, Commander Sarah Palmer and Spartan Thorne are now up for order!

McFarlane Halo 4 Series 3 Jul Mdama Sarah Palmer Spartan ThorneWell, this is a surprise. I would have bet good money that the Halo 4 McFarlane Toys line was dead, but shocker of shocker–it’s still alive.

With McFarlane Halo 4 Series 1 released in August 2012 and Halo 4 Series 2 following in September 2013, I was pretty much certain that we’d never see a third wave from McFarlane Toys. I was wrong.

McFarlane Toys Halo 4 Series 3 Jul 'Mdama Figure The newly-announced McFarlane Toys Halo 4 Series 3 assortment contains three unique characters that Halo figure collectors have been asking for since Halo 4 came out in 2012, including Jul ‘Mdama, Commander Sarah Palmer and Spartan Thorne (Recruit Spartan Armor).

I’m especially excited about the McFarlane Halo 4 Jul ‘Mdama figure, as he’s one of very few figures made of characters who debuted in the Halo novels before the video game (with the Didact and Spartans Kelly and Fred being the other two I can think of off the top of my head).

Halo 4 Series 3 Sarah Palmer Figure McFarlane ToysI somehow doubt that McFarlane Toys can top the incredible Halo Play Arts Kai Sarah Palmer figure I reviewed last year, but I am thrilled to see Thorne get some limelight. Thorne has really grown on me thanks to his appearances in the ongoing Halo comic book series!

Finished prototype photos aren’t ready yet for any of the Halo 4 Series 3 action figures at this time, but I’d expect that we’ll see them this fall. I’ll post an update here and to the Halo Toy News Facebook Page when better images are available.

McFarlane Halo 4 Series 3 Thorne Spartan Recruit Armor FigureMcFarlane Toys Halo 4 Series 3 is now available for pre-order both as individual figures and as sets of three, and is scheduled for release in February 2015. If Series 2 is any indication, these figures will not have good distribution at retail, so placing an online order is definitely your best bet for getting them with ease.

Are you pumped up about the announcement of McFarlane Halo 4 Series 3, Halo fans? Or has the long break between releases killed your interest in the McFarlane Halo figure line?

  1. Well….not what I was expecting but it’s good to know that the line is alive in a sense.
A bit disappointing that it’s really just 2 re-tools and 1 new figure sculpt (I know Jul has that head piece but basically a repaint).
It’s good were getting something but I’d have preferred around 6 to 7 figs like usual. They’re really putting everything into TWD dead nowadays.

    • Curse TWD. Bet they just had that 1 unreleased mold left over from 2 years ago and this is the end of them. Not expecting anything for Halo 5 except a MC repaint.

  2. Not excited about Jul, though Thorne seems alright and Palmer definitely, as this and the Sprukits model seem cool. Sprukits have hit retail for a few weeks, now in Florida, but only with the Level 2 Master Chief model, as well as the level 1 DC figures and level 2 Batman. No sign of other Sprukits arriving any time soon.

  3. I was bummed they didn’t do Series 3 like originally planned. I was very excited for the Lasky figure. I’m glad they’re finally making, not just three more figures, but three figures I’m excited about. I like McFarlane’s figures because they are very detailed and accurate representations of the characters. I’m not a fan of the Mega Blocks or even the Play Arts as their paint jobs aren’t as detailed as McFarlane’s. Plus I have all of the Reach and most of the Halo 3 figures so it’s nice to add to that collection rather than start a new one.

  4. Oh my goodness! This is fantastic news and I will definately be grabbing two sets of all three.

PS – Anyone know anything more about halofigureforum?

    • Im wondering too. I went to that site religiously and was sad it died off as there is still many Halo figures coming. I just hope NECA doesn’t push back 18″ Chief for a 4th time.

      • I unfortunately do not have any info on the Halo Figure Forum. If they had offered me the chance to buy the domain and keep the site running myself I would have, but they did not, unfortunately.

  5. Wow, I just heard about these and I have to say I am very excited! Going to get all three! However, I have already made (terrible) customs of two of these characters. (Not hard to figure out which one got left out of my customs.) This gives me hope that maybe they will continue making Halo figures, even if it is just slowly. So glad they are making named characters. πŸ™‚

  6. Not very happy there’s only three figures and really jul mdama is just a repaint of the elite zealot make a storm elite or and elite warrior but instead they just cheap out on jul.
