Halo Mega Bloks Blue Warthog & Blue Banshee Exclusives Revealed!

Over the past week I’ve had the opportunity to talk about some sensational upcoming Halo Mega Bloks exclusive sets, from the gigantically amazing Halo Mega Bloks UNSC Mammoth to the slick black recolor of the Mega Bloks Halo Covert Ops UNSC Falcon to the way cool glow-in-the-dark Last Man Standing Zombie Pack. But sometimes it’s my duty to talk about Halo Mega Bloks sets that aren’t exactly the best. Such is the case with today’s topic: the upcoming Target exclusive Halo Mega Bloks Blue Warthog and Blue Banshee sets…

Halo Mega Bloks Blue Warthog and Blue Banshee Exclusives Sets 2013 TargetSo, uhhh… yeah. Along with the wicked-cool Halo Mega Bloks Last Man Standing Zombie Pack 97199 coming to Target stores this summer, Target will have two more exclusives. And the theme for those exclusives is apparently… “Team Blue”? Or something very similar to it.

As part of this new Summer/Fall 2013 Halo Mega Bloks “Blue” theme, we’ll be getting a Blue Covenant Banshee 97202 set and a Blue UNSC Warthog 97159 set. The Blue Warthog Halo Mega Bloks set looks a little bit weird, but the bright blue is actually less jarring than the red Warthog that MEGA Brands released a few years ago. Also on the bright side, at least this blue Mega Bloks Warthog is my favorite style of Warthog–the Missile Launcher Warthog. And the blue Spartan Airborne Assault and Mark V(B) figures look really nice–nicer than the Warthog they come with, to be totally honest.

Mega Bloks Halo Last Man Standing Zombie Pack 97199 Box Back The Halo Mega Bloks Blue Banshee… well, that wouldn’t have been my first choice for a set to recolor. I actually really loved the Halo Mega Bloks Orbital Banshee Blitz set that I reviewed last year, but that particular set always seemed like a major flop at every store I visited–and this older model of the Covenant Banshee is vastly inferior to that one. I seem to recall this Mega Bloks Halo Banshee sitting on store shelves and gathering dust for years, so I’m pretty dubious about how well a blue variant of the old Banshee is going to do at retail, but hopefully that blue Elite Ultra included with the set will give it a little bit of “oomph” to move at retail.

In some ways, it makes a logical sort of sense to have a “Blue” theme as exclusives this year, as it nicely complements the “Red” theme of the Walmart Exclusives like the Red UNSC Spade 97158 set that was revealed last month. Even the Last Man Standing Zombie Pack fits into the “blue” theme, as the sole uninfected Spartan in that set is a blue Spartan Security figure. Even so, I’m not particularly enamored with either of these sets and it’s unlikely I’ll be picking up either of them personally.

The Halo Mega Bloks Blue Warthog and Banshee sets will be a Target stores retailer exclusive set in the United States, and should be in stores later this summer. I’ll add more details about these sets as they’re released. Thanks to Vanocean for letting Halo Toy News share his photos of the upcoming sets!

    • You and me both. At the very least, I’d have preferred a repaint of the Orbital Banshee, which is a worlds better design.

      • Exactly! And even if they still wanted a regular banshee, they could at least use some space banshee parts, like that new cockpit piece! Besides, the Halo Wars wing design is kinda out-dated…

  1. I am glad to be getting spartan IIIs. I have a few but I could us more. WHY WON’T THEY MAKE EMILE???

  2. Blue is a weird colour, but it’s nice to be able to get the rocket wartchog for cheaper than the price of the turret, and the figures are cool.

I don’t know, maybe the Banshee stayed sitting around on shelves a long time because it was popular and so the stores kept putting some new ones? Probably not, but who knows.

  3. Is it just me or are we foreseeing the end of the Red vs. Blue line? It had some really nice sets, but maybe its not as popular or they are moving onto some new themes?

  4. i for one am interested in both sets, especially the banshee, call me a wierdo but i am gona buy at least 2 banshees, i mean, sure a newer design would be cool, but im quite happy with this…. just as long as the mammoth isnt canceled, i dont care what mega blocks poops out in exclusives.

  5. These sets for me ar wonderful additions to my collection and the Elite ultra (which is my favourite elite rank) is armed with a plasma repeater one of my favourite weapons in the halo universe

  6. ill admit the banshee is getting old but people that didnt like halo MB a while ago can get a blue banshee. the rockethog IS a good idea though it will probably be $20.00 and i never bough rockethog VS AA gun so i want that an it looks cool. plus isnt it time blue team got some vehicles?
