Halo 4 Series 2 Figures Packaged Photos Posted! (McFarlane Toys)

When you haven’t had a new action figure released in your favorite toy line in a year, every little dribble of news is exciting. Well, McFarlane Toys has now opened up the floodgates by confirming the release date for the long-awaited McFarlane Halo 4 Series 2 and posting packaged photos of each and every figure in Halo 4 Wave 2!

Halo 4 Series 2 Master Chief Figure with Halo Micro Ops Cortana Figure Packaged

I’ve previously posted the packages photos of the Deluxe Halo 4 Didact figure and the (annoyingly exclusive to Walgreens) Steel/Green CIO Spartan figure, so now let’s take a look at the remaining five 2013 McFarlane Toys Halo 4 Series 2 figures. You’ll notice that all of the packaging is now done in the space-saving, environmentally-friendly slim cardback style that Gamestop used for the Halo 4 figures last year. I like having less waste, so good work McFarlane Toys!

McFarlane Halo 4 Wave 2 Master Chief and Cortana Action FiguresIt’s sort of surreal seeing the Halo Micro Ops logo on the sticker on the Master Chief figure’s package. When this wave of Halo 4 figures was announced, it was assumed that Halo Micro Ops would be going strong when the Master Chief & Micro Ops Cortana figure would be released while the Halo Micro Ops toys were still going strong. Instead, the Halo Micro Ops line has been dead since the start of the year.

McFarlane Storm Jackal Halo 4 Series 2 Figure PackagedNext up we have the first Halo 4 Jackal Storm figure released by McFarlane Toys. The Halo 4 Storm Jackal figure looks much better in the packaged photos than a lot of the prototypes of this particular figure have looked, but the actual figure still isn’t as cool-looking as the screenshot of the Jackal on the package.

I’m also let down to see definitively that no energy shield is included with the McFarlane Storm Jackal–I know not all Jackals carry energy shields, but considering how few Jackal action figures get put out by McFarlane Toys,Β  it’s a huge bummer not to get a shield here.

McFarlane Toys Spartan CIO Violet Figure from Halo 4 Wave 2 October 2013In McFarlane Halo 4 Series 2 we get one all-new Halo 4 armor permutation here in the Violet C.I.O. Spartan, and one updated Halo 4 Spartan Scout armor permutation with the Rust Orange Scout Spartan figure. The designs on the Rust Orange Spartan’s armor look good, and it’s nice to see the Sticky Detonator packed with a single-carded figure. The Violet CIO Spartan action figure looks ago, but I suspect most people are going to prefer the Gamestop exclusive green/steel CIO Spartan.

Halo 4 Series 2 Spartan Scout Rust Orange Figure CardedFinally, we’ve got the Halo 4 Wave 2 Elite Ranger figure with Halo 4 Beam Rifle. It certainly doesn’t appear that the helmet on this figure will be removable, which is a disappointment, but we won’t know for certain until someone actually opens the figure. I’m having a tough time appraising this figure without having the chance to take it out of the package and see it next to other Halo figures. But at least it won’t be a long wait now…

Halo 4 Series 2 Elite Ranger McFarlane Toys Figure October 2013All of the Halo 4 Series 2 figures are now available for pre-order, with an expected arrival date of October 2013 for online stores and a few weeks later for brick and mortar retail stores. I’ll post a full review of every single Halo 4 Series 2 action figure when they’re finally released next month.

  1. Saw these like a week ago. I actually like that they’re moving the line as a whole to the GameStop styled packaging. Looks better, and should save them at least a tiny bit on packaging and shipping cost. This choice of packaging is probably why I’ll get the Walgreens CIO figure…if I ever find one. Would look nice displayed still on the card.

I have to agree about the Jackal, while the figure looks good, it still doesn’t compare well to the CG pic used on the packaging. BTW, would anybody happen to have that particular Jackal render? Anyways, there’s only three ways I could see the figure being any better. 1) A paler skin-tone, like the render, 2) An opening jaw, and 3) A shield accessory. Two of which I could see them doing for future Jackal figures. That said, I’m still probably going to get this guy.

While the Elite Ranger’s helmet doesn’t appear to be removable, I might actually get one. Especially since I can’t seem to find a Zealot (missed the boat on that one). The Elite in these photos looks better than the prototype did, and it would be nice to have at least one H4 Elite. Would still be nice if the helmet could be taken off, but it’s no-longer a deal breaker for me.

As for the Micro-Ops logo on Chief’s packaging, I think there still is a chance of the second series being released, albeit a very slim chance. I sent a message off to BBTS asking why they still had their Micro-Ops series 2 pre-orders up, and the person who replied said that they were still expecting to get them in. Doesn’t necessarily mean anything, but you never know.
