Fall 2014 Halo Mega Bloks NMPD Hornet Revealed & Photo!

We’re still a few weeks away from the New York Toy Fair 2014 (where the bulk of the Halo Mega Bloks Fall 2014 sets are expected to be revealed–and yes, Halo Toy News will be on hand this year), but MEGA Brands has already given us a first glance at one of the Mega Bloks Halo sets scheduled to be released in the latter half of 2014! We’ll have to wait quite a while still to get our hands on it, but the Halo Mega Bloks NMPD Hornet is now officially on the way!

Halo Mega Bloks NMPD Hornet Fall 2014 Set

My favorite Halo video game (not named Halo Wars) is Halo 3: ODST, so I have a special place in my heart for the New Mombasa Police Department. The “NMPD HQ” level is one of my all-time favorite levels in a first-person shooter video game, and I overall am just a big ol’ softie for the New Mombasa Police Department.

So when MEGA Brands revealed the first-ever NMPD Halo Mega Bloks set at the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2014 last week? Yeah, I was grinning pretty wide.

The first Fall 2014 Halo Mega Bloks set to be revealed is, in fact, the NMPD Hornet Halo Mega Bloks set. While specific details about the set were unavailable at the 2014 Nuremberg Toy Fair, we can see pretty plainly that this model is largely based upon the Fall 2014 UNSC Hornet vehicle that I reviewed last year.

Halo Mega Bloks UNSC Hornet vs Covenant Vampire Review 97123 Considering how amazing that Halo Mega Bloks UNSC Hornet 2013 set was, I’m pleased to see that this set is largely similar, but with two improvements:

1) It features the ultra-cool NMPD white and grey color scheme; and

2) It eliminates the much-hated light-and-sound features! Yes, if the build in the teaser photo looks a little different to you, it’s because the light-and-sound functions of the previously-released iteration of the Hornet have been removed. I know that’s going to please a lot of collectors!

At this time, this is the only information known about the Halo Mega Bloks Summer 2014 NMPD Hornet set. I’ll post more information as it becomes available, and you can ‘Like’ Halo Toy News on Facebook to have more news, photos and updates sent right to your Facebook Newsfeed.

Obviously there’s only one photo to go on so far, but how are you liking this first look at the Mega Bloks Halo NMPD Hornet, Halo collectors?

    • As I said in another thread, the Vampire from that set was stolen. When I get a good deal on it and some free time, I’ll buy that set (again) and build the Covenant Vampire (again) so I can properly review it.

  1. I must say I am really really excited for this set. Judging by the big NMPD logo in the background it looks like NMPD might be a big theme overall this year. It’d be super cool if all the sets had a common thread that added up to a bigger whole if you got them all.

  2. Going to toy fair, eh? I saw that invite from Mega. πŸ˜‰

Enjoy and don’t forget to bring us back all the awesome NMPD…um…awesomeness, I guess…

  3. I loved the redisgned hornet and I did like the lights and sounds feature although it is good that they won’t be using said feature on all of their sets as it does increase the cost quite a bit. I really like the looks of this NMPD hornet too!
