Halo Wars 2 Mega Bloks Jackrabbit Blitz Revealed! Douglas!

At New York Toy Fair 2016, Mattel let Halo Mega Bloks collectors down with an astonishingly light showing. But this story has a surprise twist happy ending. Because not only are more 2016 Halo Mega Bloks sets on the way than were displayed at the show–but several never-before-seen sets have now been released already! Meanwhile, we can now attach a name to a vehicle shown but left untitled at the Toy Fair: the Halo Wars 2 Mega Bloks UNSC Jackrabbit Blitz set–with Spartan Douglas!

Halo Wars 2 Mega Bloks UNSC Jackrabbit Blitz Set

Considering how many years I’ve been running Halo Toy News, it’s probably going to surprise some folks to hear that I absolutely suck at  regular Halo games. First-person shooters just aren’t in-line with my slow reflexes and lack of directional awareness.

But Halo Wars–man, that was the game that really made me fall in love with Halo video games. And as such, I’ve got a special place in my heart for Jerome, Alice and Douglas–the long-lost Red Team Halo Wars Spartans. Red Team got their own 5 inch action figures from McFarlane Toys years ago, but now they’re finally going to get the Mega Bloks Halo figure treatment I’ve always wanted for them as part of this year’s Mega Bloks Halo Wars 2 series!

The 31848 Jackrabbit Blitz Halo Mega Bloks set specifically will include a Spartan Douglas-042 figure, who will come with two black Magnums that he can dual-wield. Alice and Jerome (Red Leader) will be packed with the still-unnamed eight-wheeled cannon vehicle that was shown at Toy Fair.

Mega Bloks Halo UNSC Jackrabbit Blitz 31848 Box Back DouglasWhile the Mega Bloks Spartan Douglas-042 figure is the high point of this set for me, the little UNSC Jackrabbit vehicle is pretty neat as well. With such light armaments–and armor–the UNSC Jackrabbit bike is clearly going to be a scout vehicle new for Halo Wars 2. How the Spirit of Fire developed new vehicles in isolation while stranded across the galaxy, I really have no idea.

The UNSC Jackrabbit Blitz set contains 91 pieces, and should retail for $9.99-$12.99 when it hits retail stores this spring. It’s currently available in limited quantities from scalping mega-toy store ToyWiz, where I’m ashamed to say I ordered several sets this morning at inflated, price-gouging prices. What can I say? I am weak. I’ll post a full review of this set when I get it, which will hopefully be within the next week.

Now that we know its official name and included figure, what do you think of the Mega Bloks Halo Wars 2 Jackrabbit Blitz set, collectors? Will you be adding one or more of these vehicles to your collection this spring?

  1. Ha ha ha! That’s why you’re the writer of HaloTOYNews instead of HaloGAMENews! I do well enough in regular Halo games’ campaigns, the story is what I really care for anyway, but I never played the multi-players because I suck when I compete against other people. So like you, I also really enjoyed Halo Wars, It was definitely more my “pace”. I’ll be getting this set for sure…and have to save up some money to get the set that includes Alice and Jerome.

  2. Not gonna lie, I tried to buy this set already but I couldn’t find it on Toywiz when I checked back. Did see something interesting, though. The Smuggler Intercept set. Is this new, or have I fallen behind the curve? Also, not having that Douglas is killing me.

  3. Kinda odd that he has the Halo Wars Mark IV helmet but the FUD Mark IV body that the recent Chief figure has. Kinda wish they had made a straight update of the Halo Wars version, based off the Spartan figures from the very first Halo Wars sets.
