A few people have written in to me asking when I was going to discuss the not-quite-secret-anymore 2014 Halo Mega Bloks Drop Pods, but I’ve been putting off that particular assortment for a couple reasons. Primarily, though, it’s because I knew that the Halo Mega Bloks Metallic Drop Pods would be the first Halo Mega Bloks 2014 sets to arrive, and I was waiting for the official images to pop up. It’s taken a bit longer than I expected, but the time is now! The Halo Mega Bloks Metallic Series ODST Drop Pods are on the way, and will be releasing in the United States sooner than you may think…

There’s good news and there’s bad news for fans of the Halo Mega Bloks Drop Pods. First, some good news is that, despite a bleak 2013, Halo Mega Bloks ODST Drop Pods will be returning as part of the Halo Mega Bloks 2014 lineup! The Halo Drop Pods Mega Bloks assortment was clearanced out at many retail chains this year, leading some to believe that the Drop Pods series was over and done with. And its original form, that seems to be true. But–! From the ashes, a new Mega Bloks Halo sub-series will rise: the Halo Mega Bloks Metallic Series ODST Drop Pods!

This series of 4 Halo Mega Bloks Metallic ODST Drop Pods will include:

• Metallic Silver ODST Drop Pod97417
• Metallic Blue ODST Drop Pod 97418
• Metallic Green ODST Drop Pod 97419
• Metallic Red ODST Drop Pod 97420

There is a bit of bad news that I would be remiss if I didn’t report. First off, this new assortment is ODSTs only–no Covenant or Flood allowed (at least for now). In addition, the Drop Pod sets are far less elaborate than the old ones. No fancy paint deco on the outside, no paint applications on the weapons, less weapons, and no detailed interior like we got on the old ODST Mega Bloks Drop Pods.

On the bright side, this new line hasn’t been cancelled like the old one was, and MEGA Brands is able to offer these to fans at the ridiculously low price of around $3.99 per Drop Pod and ODST figure! Considering the extensive paint apps on each of the new Mega Bloks ODST figures and how slick their metallic paint schemes look (I particularly like the metallic green ODST), this is a total steal. I think that this new, budget-priced Mega Bloks Halo ODST Drop Pods Metallic Series is going to be a massive hit and sell like wildfire at retail stores.

The Halo Mega Bloks 2013 Metallic Series ODST Drop Pods can now be pre-ordered as a set or individual Drop Pods from BA Toys, but they are currently only accepting orders from customers who have an existing account and who have purchased items (any items) from the store in the past. The set of four metallic ODST Drop Pods is selling for an amazingly-low price of $15.99 with free shipping, and expected to ship out by November 22, 2013. If you want to get in on the first batch of the ODST Drop Pods Metallic Series (I know I do!), you should get your orders in soon, as quantities are apparently very limited on this initial shipment.
