NECA Halo Master Chief 1/4 Figure at Toy Fair 2014!

I’ve been so focused on talking about all of the new Summer 2014 Halo Mega Bloks sets, I almost forgot that there were other companies who showed new Halo toys at the New York Toy Fair 2014! While NECA is a company that I traditionally haven’t taken much of an interest in (beyond their incredible, short-lived NECA Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figure), they definitely made me sit up and take notice when they acquired a license to make Halo products last year. And at the 2014 Toy Fair, NECA brought their very first Halo product to show off–the enormous Halo 18″ Master Chief figure that showed up for pre-order last month!

18" NECA Halo Master Chief 1/4 Figure

I’m not the biggest collector of the various lines that NECA produces, so I almost–true story–walked past their booth entirely at the 2014 New York Toy Fair without stopping to check out anything that they had on display. It was only during my last walkthrough of the show floor that I remembered I had to stop at the NECA booth and see if anything Halo was being shown off. It was a good thing I did, as the first NECA Halo action figure ever was making its debut at the event.

In June 2014, NECA is planning to release their 18″ Master Chief figure–the first-ever NECA Halo action figure, the first-ever quarter-scale Master Chief figure, and the largest Halo action figure ever released, all wrapped up in one!

NECA Halo Quarter-Scale Magnum and Assault Rifle WeaponsThis epic-sized Master Chief action figure will come packing the Chief’s two favorite Halo weapons: the Assault Rifle and the Magnum! The unpainted sculpts for these guns look pretty good, but it’s obviously going to be the paint that makes or breaks these weapons.

There was a giant “NOT FINAL” placard placed in front of the NECA Master Chief 1/4 scale figure at the show, indicating that there’s still likely to be improvements and revisions to this figure (as well as, you know… paint).

Halo Master Chief 18" Figure NECA Toy Fair 2014The 18″ Halo Master Chief action figure is now available for pre-order, and is expected to hit stores this summer. He carries a $99.99 MSRP, though you can pre-order him now for 10 bucks off. Many NECA quarter-scale figures from popular franchises like Iron Man and Pacific Rim have actually surprised me by pre-selling out before the figures are even released, so if you think you might want your own 1/4 Master Chief Halo figure, you may want to secure a pre-order while you can.

What do you think of this near-finished prototype of the 18″ Master Chief, Halo fandom?

    • For $99.99, he better include: Voice clips from the game, full articulation, painted perfectly to the game, and come with a God damn Wonka golden ticket!

      • $99.99 is very fair for an 18″ figure these days, to be totally honest. NECA builds full articulation into their quarter-scale figures, and the NECA Iron Man and Knife-Head 1/4 scale figures have looked particularly killer. Considering Hot Toys charges $300 for a 12″ Iron Man figure, $99 for an 18″ Master Chief of this quality feels like a great value.

        • I suppose it’s a good deal when you put it that way. But will it be available in stores in Canada? Because there’s a very big shortage of Neca where I live. Only the recent Toys R Us exclusive Robocop and some thing from Bioshock.

  1. I definitely want one of these. I have the same issue as Alexander. I would rather see one of these in stores as the shipping rate on figures to Canada is pretty steep.

  2. I just realized the enormity of a 18 inch figure and thus… the price 🙁 Sadly I don’t think I can afford this one

  3. for 99.99 i think it should come with the cloak and a second head with a cracked visor from halo 5, personally. Cause I’m not forking out another 100 bucks just for it with a cracked visor and a cloak next year!

  4. Has anyone heard a release date? It’s scheduled for June/ July, and we have yet to see a final photo. NECA typically doesnt pull a 3A and push back their figures but its already July and no new info.
