Halo Mega Bloks Fire Team Venom & Crimson Sets! Toy Fair 2014

It used to be that Halo collectors looked to the McFarlane Toys Halo action figure line to give them every type of Spartan armor in action figure form, while MEGA Brands’ Halo Mega Bloks line had to play second fiddle with a more limited selection. But no longer! While the McFarlane Halo figures line is virtually dead, the Mega Bloks Halo line is going strong. And at last week’s New York Toy Fair 2014, MEGA Brands debuted two new sets filled with new Spartan armors: it’s the Halo Mega Bloks Fire Team Venom 97350 & Fire Team Crimson 97349 sets!

Halo Mega Bloks Fire Team Venom and Fire Team Crimson SetsSomething I was definitely not expecting to see at the 2014 Toy Fair International Mega Bloks booth last week was the brand-new assortment of Halo Mega Bloks Fire Team Sets! We’ve had Halo Mega Bloks Combat Units in the past with four Spartans of a single color, but now MEGA Brands is going to do us one better with these packs containing a whopping 5 Spartans each–priced a terrific value of just $14.99 per set!

Toy Fair 2014 Halo Mega Bloks Fire Team Venom 97350 First up, let’s talk about my favorite set: Halo Mega Bloks Fire Team Venom 97350!

While the figures on the table at the MEGA Brands booth were in the common army green color, I was told that the actual Team Venom figures will be in the amazing, radioactive neon green color seen on the packaging instead. Along with the five figures included in the set, collectors will also get a Team Venom flag, a terrain baseplate, some sandbags and more. This is a huge upgrade to the Combat Units that we’ve gotten used to!

Halo Mega Bloks Fire Team Venom 97350 BoxThis set will contain five Fire Team Venom Spartans: Gungnir, Scout, Oceanic, Aviator and Enforcer! I am totally in love with this bright green Spartan color, and getting it on rare armors like Enforcer, Aviator and Oceanic Spartan figures just sweetens the deal.

Meanwhile, we’ll also be getting Halo Mega Bloks Fire Team Crimson 97349! This set will include a Crimson Spartan Scout, Spartan Recruit, Orbital Spartan, Spartan Enforcer and Spartan Mark VI. Crimson Spartans aren’t quite as exciting as Spartans in that wacky radioactive green color scheme, but this is a fantastic set full of rare molds nonetheless.

Halo Mega Bloks Fire Team Venom & Crimson Sets! Toy Fair 2014 — 22 Comments

  1. I’m certainly excited for these as they are a huge upgrade from what the combat units/battle packs used to be, much more is included with these sets and it makes them so much more interesting.

  2. It looks like we’ll finally get some more extensive armor customization opportunities with this new figure system and matching colors.

  3. I absolutely love this idea, but I’ve always had a hard time getting excited for just Spartans. I hope they decide to do some marine and ODST fireteams in the future – and maybe even some covenant files.

  4. I am very excited about the two fire teams. There is so much that Mega Bloks is giving you for $14.99, that I’m sure these will be hard to keep on the shelves. I look forward to all of the toys that are planned to come out this year. But I wish these sets were coming out in the spring instead of the summer. For me, the sooner the better.

  5. Count me in as being excited for most of the offerings this fall, especially the Fire Teams. While I normally don’ t collect red Spartans (if I can help it), the ability to customize armor pieces makes acquiring different colored Spartans so much more interesting. I’d also like to see them continue the Fireteams to include ODSTs, Marines, and Covenant but we all know Spartans sell the best, especially with all the armor and color variations to be made.

It’s going to be a long wait till this fall. Although, I have a feeling we may be seeing this stuff in July or August. Still a long wait.

  6. Does anybody realize that the fire team venom box color looks really close to the flood color Spartans in Halo 4? And that the background is Haven?
I hope this means we will be getting Halo 4 flood sets in the future.

    • It kinda does, i wouldn’t mind seeing a few Covenant lances/files to balance out, and maybe one with Flood, Carrier Form, Three Combat Forms, and one Pure Form or Spartan Combat Form.

  7. tbh i like the venom color but i was kinda wishing venom would be in the common green with a blackwash so i could army build

  8. I just wish they didn’t call it fire team crimson, why not use an non-colour related name like Fireteam Venom. This means we can’t call customised Spartans in our H4 armor and colours Fireteam crimson -.- what’s gonna be majestics new name Fireteam dark blue? Gonna change the colours of Mountain squad from grey with orangish yellow stripes to arctic? -.-

  9. Any idea, where can I actually order them? My nephew wants both these sets, but unfortunately I cannot find their seller anywhere in Europe and not even capable to find one in US?? Will appreciate an advice.

    Thx! ๐Ÿ™‚
    Marie

    • They’re not available just yet, Marie, but probably will be in about one to two weeks! Hang in there! ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Want them so much, oceanic looks epic as hell, they gotta make a fire team majestic tho
