McFarlane Halo Legends The Package 3 Pack Released!

After last week’s dismal news that McFarlane Halo 4 Series 2 was being delayed until fall, Halo figure collectors needed a speck of positive news–and this week we have it. The extremely-anticipated McFarlane Halo Legends The Package 3-Pack of figures including The Master Chief, Kelly-087, and Frederic-104 has now been released and turned up in-stock for sale online!

After the cancellation of the Halo Universe series of figures last year, many people were concerned that this McFarlane Halo Legends: “The Package” 3-Pack would meet a similar fate, as it’s technically part of the Halo Universe line, but those fears were for naught. Along with a re-release of The Package Master Chief (who was in the Halo Anniversary line prior to this), this McFarlane Halo Universe three-pack gives us the first-ever figures from any company of Spartans Fred and Kelly!

Before I ever picked up a controller and played a Halo video game, I read the first four Halo novels (of which the three by author Eric Nylund were masterpieces and are highly recommended, while the Halo: Combat Evolved game adaptation novel by William Dietz was an abomination). In these novels we’re introduced to the first named Spartan-IIs besides the Master Chief, including the fastest Spartan–Kelly–and the Chief’s second-in-command–Frederic.

Halo Legends The Package 3 Pack Boxed Set McFarlane Toys Kelly-087 and Frederic-104 would go on to appear in visual form for the first time in the anime-like “Halo Legends” animated anthology, where they teamed up with the Master Chief to rescue Dr. Catherine Halsey. These figures are based upon their appearances in that Halo cartoon.

Considering that the Halo 3 Campaign Co-Op 4-Pack from last year has seemingly never hit a single brick-and-mortar store, I’m not really sure that I trust McFarlane Toys to get adequate supplies of this Halo Legends The Package Figures 3-Pack into actual retail stores.

Having figures of some of my favorite Halo Expanded Universe Spartans was important enough to me that I didn’t want to take any chances with there being any kind of debacle, so I went ahead and ordered the set from Amazon. I’ll post a full review of the set just as soon as I have mine in-hand.

  1. Why does everyone hate The Flood novel so much? I thought it was cool. It shows you what some of the Covenant and UNSC forces were doing when the Chief wasn’t around. I don’t see what the problem is.

  2. I don’t remember “The Flood” being a bad novel, just that the quality wasn’t as good as Nylund’s books. It was way more entertaining than most of the segments from Halo: Legends.
