Halo Mega Bloks Summer 2013 Combat Units Sets: Hunters and Brutes!

We come now at last to the end of the new Halo Mega Bloks product revealed at the 2013 New York Toy Fair, and it’s another fan-favorite sub-line: Combat Units! Up until now the Combat Units have primarily been composed of same-color groups of troops from one side like the Orange UNSC Combat Unit or the Covenant Cobalt Combat Unit, but the Halo Mega Bloks Summer 2013 sets will be putting the “Combat” back in “Combat Units”–it’s the UNSC vs. the Covenant, with Hunters and Brute Chieftains along for the ride for the very first time…

2013 Halo Mega Bloks Combat Units 87082 and 97085

For the first time ever, MEGA Brands is giving us truly mixed Combat Units this summer (no, I don’t count the Snowbound Combat Unit). This is actually a pretty logical move, as now kids (and those of us who wish we were kids) can purchase one ~$12 sets and have an instant UNSC vs. Covenant figure battle, as opposed to having to buy both a UNSC and a Covenant pack as was necessary in the past.

Halo Mega Bloks Summer 2013 Combat Unit with Security Spartan and Brute Chieftain What really makes these sets great, however, is that MEGA Brands is throwing some highly coveted Halo Mega Bloks figures into the mix with this next pair of sets! The first set is anchored by a Brute Chieftain with Gravity Hammer for the first time outside of the awesome Brute Chieftain Charge set!

That in and of itself would be enough to sell the set, but it’s also including the first-ever release of the Elite Officer outside of a large set and the summer 2013 debuting Spartan Security figure! Add in my favorite gun in Active Camo (the Mauler) and its Brute figure accessory, and I’d be willing to throw more than the $13 price tag on this set at MEGA Brands to get my hands on this set.

Summer 2013 Halo Mega Bloks Combat Unit with Hunter and ODSTWhile not quite as strong, the second set gives us a Covenant Hunter figure for the first time in a sub-$20 set, along with a Desert Grunt, ODST, and Active Camo ODST. The Desert Brown Hunter and Grunt figures are a little strange looking, but I think they may actually go very well with the Desert Gausshog due out this summer.

Both the Brute Combat Unit and Hunter Combat Unit sets should be available in late Spring 2013, with the usual MSRP of $13-$14. I’ll post pre-order links when they become available for these sets.

    • it is actually the brown hunters who fire the fuel rod shot not the long beam like the blue ones do

  1. Hey David said that on the new warthog that there will be
More armorys and stuff like that? What the hell man? 🙁 🙁 🙁

  2. And I got my first ultra rare, a red grenader spartan from series 6 blind packs!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

  3. For some reason I think these will be shelf warmers, much like the snowbound combat unit. The hunter is in an akward color and the novelty of active camo figures is starting to wear off.

  4. the snowbound stuff is the biggest shelf warmer set ever. Targets are full of em. High base was ok and the battle scape accesories were ok.

  5. That isn’t a desert Hunter, that is a Gold Hunter from ODST. They appear in that exact color on legendary CONSTANTLY on legendary. Really hyped for it. I just hope they change the coloration of the UNSC marine from the other pack. Does anyone else think that the tan on him offset his face a little?

  6. i want the security soldier with that gold hunter also a active camo stalker wich is a type of brute in halo3 odst i think this will not be a shelf wrmer because of long waited for security soldier and active camo odst also cant wait for the mystery pack also keep up the goodwork love the blogs.
